SLAP Miniatures Space Dorks Kickstarter

The latest Kickstarter campaign from SLAP Miniatures has just launched, and this time it's the turn of the greenskins, or Space Dorks.

I'm a big fan of the SLAP Minis 15mm ranges, even the Global Defence Force, which some complained were too small (I will use them as a non-human race. A kind of beardless half-dwarf). The sculpting has been excellent and detailed without too much fussy stuff, and the casting is also clean and crisp.

The Space Dorkz look to continue the tradition, with some stunningly characterful models with suitably vicous looking weapons. They have a great Commie-Space-Chimp look to them, which gives them a bit of a retro look.

The Kickstarter campaign has again been kept simple. They come in sets of 25 models and you can buy multiple sets, with multiple sets getting you increasing numbers of free (random) minis up to a full free set if you buy 5.

Each set comprises:
1 Dorktator (the leader with... well, just see below)
1 Dorktenant (Second-in-command with the best uniform)
2 Boomerz (rocket launchers)
2 Grillerz (flamethrowers)
2 Quick Bangerz (LMGs)
1 Dorkter (medic with immense pistol-syringe and serrated bonesaw!)
1 Greaser (mechanic)
6 Bangerz (assault rifles)
6 Stabbers (assault troops with handgun and melee weapon)
1 Mutilator, and
1 Stinkrat.

These last two are the lizard and little beastie in the picture above.

Also available are the Space Knights and GDF minis from the previous Kickstarters, because the Dorks will need some opposition.

SLAP Miniatures Kickstarter - Space Knights

SLAP Mkniatures have just launched their latest Kickstarter campaign. This time they are releasing a set of 15mm Space Knights; heavily armoured SciFi troopers wearing armour that appears to be influenced by mediaeval knights with a touch of 40K space marine.

22 different bodies are available with about 25 different heads so that there are a lot of possibilities for some unique poses. Some of the figures have separate arms to further increase the options.

Their previous Kickstarter campaign was the Global Defence Force and some people were disappointed with the size of the figures, suggesting that they were a bit smaller than expected (they were 'true' 15mm scale, ie 15mm to the top of their heads).  Well, Stuart seems to have listened. He sent me a photo of one of the knights which shows it to be about 18mm to the top of the head. The slightly crouched pose means that this will be about as bulky as most figures currently on the market. The Paladins in the range look like they will be even bigger.

The figures are reasonably priced at £17 for the set. There is also the option to buy a random half dozen figures or multiple full sets.

SLAP Miniatures Kickstarter

SLAP Miniatures launched their Kickstarter today for a really nice looking range of Global Defence Forces.

Stuart has 30 riflemen, all unique sculpts, and 6 different support troopers. Over the course of the campaign he'll be sculpting 4 more of each type of support trooper. If you bung him a ton, he'll even sculpt your own idea for a figure!

Just look at these beauties!

Stuart had written a nice article for Dropship Horizon, link below, and the link to the Kickstarter is there.

He is sensibly keeping the Kickstarter small so that he can deliver quickly and stay solvent! There are plans to expand the range however, and previews of the dollies for the evil forces and the civilian/scientist figures are on the Kickstarter page.

Have a look at what he has to say here:
